509 new BOPs, additional BSF personnel to curb inflitration

New Delhi, Dec 1 : Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken today said the Goverenment is increasing the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and Border Out Posts (BOP) in order to curb infiltration attempts.

Speaking on the sidelines of 45th anniversary function of the BSF, the Minister said, ''The Government is increasing number of BSF personnel and BOPs to reduce the gap between two posts for effective vigil on border areas.'' He said additional flood-lights will also be installed in addition to fencing nearby border areas.

''It is expected that these measures will help reducing the number of inflitration,'' the Minister told mediapersons.

Lauding the contribution and work of the force in anti-Naxal operation, Mr Maken said, ''The Civic-action programme of BSF in Naxal-affected areas has garnered lot of appreciation from the respective state governments.'' BSF Director General Raman Srivasta, while addressing the annual day parade of the force, said the government so far has given nod for creating additional 509 BOPs.
