From Express News Service : New Delhi, Wed Dec 11 2013
The attrition in central paramilitary forces continues, with 9,000 personnel quitting this year till October.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in a written reply, told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that more than 47,000 personnel at various levels in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Assam Rifles (AR) took either voluntary retirement or resigned between 2010 and 2013.

Minister of State for Home RPN Singh, in the written reply, said, "The total number of personnel who proceeded on voluntary retirement or resigned during the last three years and the current year is only... about 1.38 percent of the force strength...Some personnel seek voluntary retirement to enjoy a static life as well as pension benefits after completing 20 years of regular service."
The highest attrition rate was seen in the CRPF and BSF. It was also higher among the lower levels.
The Home Ministry told the Lok Sabha that "to address personal as well as official problems and complaints of personnel, each of the CAPFs and AR already have a proper grievance redressal mechanism in place at battalion..."
