More than a dozen students were injured after they were beaten up by Border Security Force (BSF) staff attempting to quell a protest staged by the students against the principal of BSF Institute of Engineering near Bagalur Cross on Bellary road on Saturday morning.
More than 300 students gathered on the campus around 11am to protest against their principal,
B Anil Kumar, whom they alleged was harassing students. The students alleged that the principal harassed them by collecting fine amounts for petty reasons. The students later decided to block Bellary road which connects the Bengaluru International Airport to the city.
The students gathered in front of the gate and some began to throw stones at the guard room. It is then that security personnel charged the students. More than 12 students were rushed to the nearby Yelahanka Government hospital for the treatment.
