Border dists on alert ahead of India-Pak match

JAISALMER: Following the terror threats on the semifinal match between India and Pakistan, security has been beefed up in and around the border in western Rajasthan. Border Security Force (BSF) has increased surveillance at the villages close to the international border. 

The Gujarat frontier, under whose jurisdiction Jaisalmer and Barmer fall, has initiated Operation Alert, and intensified patrolling to check infiltration. 


"There have been intelligence reports on possibility of a terror attack in Mohali during the India v/sPakistan World Cup match. Following this, all the posts have been alerted," a senior BSF officer said. 

According to sources in North Western Railways(NWR), security has been beefed up in theThar Express that runs between the two countries. "Every passenger coming to India by this train is being thoroughly scanned at the Munabao station in Barmer," an NWR officer said.
