SILCHAR, Aug 8: On specific intelligence tip off, troops of BSF deployed under Mizoram and Cachar Frontier carried out a special operation in general area of Mubarakpur in Karimganj district on Saturday in the afternoon and apprehended an Indian national racketeer along with fake Indian currency notes (FICN) valued at Rs 40,000 in the denominations of Rs 500 and one Nokia mobile set near Eklabari along NH- 44. He has been identified as Md Ali Askar (30), hailing from the village of Narikali, Lakhibazar under Karimganj police station.
After interrogation, the accused has been handed over to Karimganj police station along with the seized currency notes and mobile set for initiating legal action against him and also for further grilling. (SENTINELASSAM)
