Court defers order on transfer of case involving BSF men

A local court on Tuesday deferred its order on an application seeking transfer of a case related to the killing of a teenager allegedly by a BSF commandant and a constable to General Security Forces Court.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar Yashpal Bourney deferred the passing of orders by two days in the case related to the killing of 16-year-old Zahid Farooq by a BSF unit in Nishat area of the city in February.
Earlier, the court had on November 16 deferred its order on the transfer plea till Tuesday. The magistrate did not assign any reasons for the deferment till November 25.
Commandant of 68 Battalion BSF R K Birdhi and constable Lakhvinder Kumar were arrested in connection with the case and the duo were charged with murder of the boy.
BSF had moved an application under section 80 of the BSF Act, seeking transfer of the case along with evidence and documents, in order to try the accused personnel in the General Security Forces Court (GSFC).
