Srinagar: The district administrations is learnt to have asked army and Border Security Forces to cooperate with police who have sought custody of uniformed personnel in connection with the killing of a youth in Pooch district of Jammu region recently.
“Assistant Development Commissioner has send letters to both army and BSF to cooperate with the police in connection with killing of the youth,” Station House Officer (SHO), Mendhar Police Station, Kuldeep Raj said.
The police has already filed an FIR under section 302/34 Ranbir Panel Code against a BSF man and an Army trooper of Engineering Regiment for their alleged involvement in the death of 20-year-old Najeeb Hussain on Friday last.
Subsequently, the police have written to the army as well as BSF for handing over of the two soldiers for investigation. “We are awaiting FSL reports before proceeding ahead,” he added.
Hussain, son of Wazir Hussain Gujjar was summoned to the nearby Army camp of 11 Kumaun on fateful day. At the camp, Majeed, a fuel dealer was allegedly tortured resulting in his death. His body was later found near a Border Security Force (BSF) camp. The death had sparked off protests following which administrations ordered a probe.
The Army has already said that as per its investigation, there was no involvement of any Army personnel in the death.
