11 Pakistani fishermen held in Gujarat: BSF

The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended 11 Pakistani fishermen in Indian territorial waters off Gujarat, an officer said Friday.

"The fishermen, who allegedly entered into Indian waters, were arrested Thursday night near the India-Pakistan border near Bhuj," the officer said in a statement here.

The BSF officer said that a special BSF patrol team deputed at the Koteshwar border outpost seized two fishing boats while maneuvering in Pabewari Creek area and took the 11 Pakistanis into custody.

BSF apprehends 28 Bangladeshis in West Bengal

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended 28 Bangladeshi nationals near the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal as they were trying to sneak into the country, an official statement said here on Thursday.

According to BSF, the men were caught on Wednesday night.

"Troops of 152 Battalion from the border outpost in Gobardha of Nadia district in West Bengal apprehended 28 Bangladeshi nationals who were trying to enter India," the statement said.

Pak delegation including judges exchange sweets with BSF

A 40-member delegation, including seven serving judges from Pakistan, today reached 'no man's land' to offer traditional 'chadar' at an annual fair of Baba Chamliyal in Ramgarh Sector of Samba district for the first time.

the meeting.
Delegation members exchanged sweets and laid 'chadar' at the tomb of Baba Daleep Singh Manhas, famous as
Baba Chamliyal, on this side of the border.
The delegation interacted with the senior officials of BSF and civil administration, a BSF representative here told reporters.

Pak couple crosses border for love’s sake, but turned away

No matter the boundaries we draw, love sure finds its way. This love story too, made its way across the border but didn’t really see the ending it hoped for.

A young Pakistani couple who crossed into India this month with hopes in their eyes have been handed back to the Pakistani Rangers.

Akbar Ali and Zarina had crossed over in the second week of this month, hand in hand, through one of the gaps in the fence near Border Outpost 1106.

In the Rann of Kutch, the border outposts aren’t known by a name because there is no habitation on the Indian side of the border. No one lives here except the BSF.

BSF plans to adopt 5 flood-ravaged villages of Uttarakhand

NEW DELHI: The Border Security Force (BSF) proposes to adopt five flood-ravaged villages of Uttarakhand. The force will spend Rs 1 crore for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction of each of these villages, a BSF spokesperson said.

The BSF personnel also pledged a day's salary, totaling around Rs 16 crore, to the Uttarakhand Relief Fund. The BSF will also give Rs 5 lakh to the personnel of the Uttarakhand police and ITBP who died during rescue operations.

The BSF also plans to hold pre-recruitment training camps at its Doiwala campus for eligible candidates from the flood-affected areas. This would held them in getting a job at central armed forces, said the spokesperson.

नई दिल्ली/अगरतला. सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) ने बाढ़ प्रभावित उत्तराखंड में आपदा राहत के लिए 16 करोड़ रुपये के अनुदान का फैसला किया है. बीएसएफ ने एक वक्तव्य जारी कर बताया, "हम अपने सभी कर्मचारियों की एक दिन की तनख्वाह दान करेंगे." बीएसएफ का कहना है कि यह लम्बे समय तक होने वाले पुर्नवास और पुर्ननिर्माण के लिए कुछ उजड़े हुए गांवों को गोद लेगी. वक्तव्य के मुताबिक, "बचाव अभियान के दौरान मारे गए एवं लापता हुए उत्तराखंड के पुलिसकर्मियों एवं इंडो-तिब्बत पुलिस के कर्मचारियों को भी दो-दो लाख रुपए दिए जाएंगे." वहीं, त्रिपुरा के राज्यपाल देवानंद कनवर उत्तराखंड में बाढ़ एवं भूस्खलन प्रभावित लोगों की मदद के लिए एक महीने की तनख्वाह 1.10 लाख रुपये दान करेंगे. राज भवन के एक अधिकारी ने संवाददाताओं से कहा, "राज्यपाल ने उनके सचिव से उनकी एक महीने की तनख्वाह 1.10 लाख रुपये उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री राहत कोष में देने के लिए कहा है." राज्यपाल ने आपदा में मारे गए लोगों एवं प्रभावितों के प्रति गहरा दुख व्यक्त किया है. पर्वतीय राज्य उत्तराखंड में 15 जून को हुई अप्रत्याशित भारी बारिश की वजह से सैंकड़ों लोगों की जान चली गई और हजारों प्रभावित हुए हैं.

Central Government deploy 4 Platoon of BSF and 6 platoon of CRPF to Garo Hills

Shillong, June 25: After receiving formal request from the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma and the MP from Tura Miss Agatha Sangma the central government today deployed 6 platoon of  CRPF and 4 platoon of BSF to aid the state police in maintaining law and order  in Garo Hills.

These para military forces from the central government will be reaching Garo Hills tomorrow. Chief minister of Meghalaya thanks the central government for sending these para military forces to the state to help the district administration to maintained law and order in Garo Hills.(SP News)

Pak water release makes it worse

India’s border guarding force, the Border Security Force (BSF) has complained about Pakistan releasing water from its elaborate network of canals into the Indian side and flooding large tracts of the Rann of Kutch sector.

“It is a real concern for me. I have to guard the border but the water being released on the other side is affecting whatever we are constructing,” said AK Sinha, the BSF’s inspector general incharge of the Gujarat Frontier. Sinha did not spell out if Pakistan’s move to release the water during the monsoon was intended to create problems for the force. “I can only express my problem.”

The officer said they have had to evacuate border observation posts due to the extensive flooding of the region that not only damages roads but also other installations such as the border fence, electric poles and concrete structures.

BSF men turn to scientists for help man Rann

India’s border guards have tried to cover every inch of the Indo-Pakistan border in the world’s largest salt desert, Rann of Kutch. Now, they have turned to scientists to help the jawans survive the inhospitable terrain and set up more observation posts in marshy tracts.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has increased its presence along this stretch over the last decade by more than 20 times, most of it after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks demonstrated how terrorists could quietly infiltrate from the sea route with disastrous effects.

But this meant that the jawans had to start living along the border in a region where temperatures can reach up to 50 degree Celsius and the saline marsh under their feet can corrode anything that it comes in contact with.

Constables to get promoted 5 years early in BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and CISF; MHA revives old post

New Delhi: In a move that will bring cheers to lakhs of constables working in paramilitary forces, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to re-introduce the long abolished post of 'Havildar' in forces like CRPF and BSF ensuring a 5-year faster promotion to these personnel in the lower rungs of hierarchy. 

A committee of force chiefs of CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB and CISF recently met Union Home Secretary RK Singh after which it was decided to create and introduce this post which will lessen the long promotion time of 19-20 years for a Constable to become a Head Constable by 5 years, and he/she will be promoted in 14 years to the new post of 'Havildar'. 

BSF to get more teeth for vigil on infiltrators along Sir Creek

An intelligence report that 100 Pakistanis packed in four boats were attempting to infiltrate in the creek area, sent the alarm bells ringing on June 10. An Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (UAV|)was sent over the area. But it was only the next morning that the first Border Security Force  (BSF) party could launch operations to search for the reported infiltrators.

“An operation that continued for the next four days confirmed it was a false alarm. But it was a reminder just how dependent we are on nature due to lack of infrastructure,” said a BSF officer at the Koteshwar camp at India’s western tip.

The water was not just turbulent for the speed boats, there was also a real risk of getting stuck in the salt marsh enroute to Sir Creek. That is, if the BSF commandos were able to board the boats from the make-shift jetty at Koteshwar without damage to the boat.

Some of this could change over the next few months.
