Police have launched a probe into yesterday's killing of a villager allegedly by Border Security Force (BSF) in Amzadnagar area of South Tripura.
Official sources today said two separate cases had been lodged with the police by the BSF and the victim's family.
The victim's family accused a jawan of 70 Battalion of BSF Amzadnagar BOP of attempting to rape one Tulu Aktar (19) and opening fire on her father Khoka Miah (45), sister Bina Aktar (16) and brothers - Abul Kalam (23) and Badsha Miah.
All of them sustained bullet injuries and Khoka succumbed to wounds on way to Agartala Government Medical College, the family members alleged and said Abul was undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the BSF maintained that Khoka was apprehended by the BSF for talking on a mobile number from Bangladesh near the wire fencing.
When the villagers attacked the security personnel, the latter had to open fire for ''self-defence'', according to the BSF.
