RANCHI: On the third day of the ongoing 62nd All India Police Games, Haryana police maintained its dominance while Punjab police managed to secure the second position in the medals tally. On Wednesday, wrestling, weight lifting and judo tournaments were organized.
In the 96 kg men's wrestling category, Parminder Kumar from Punjab won gold, beating Vedpal from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Rishi Pal from the Border Security Force (BSF) had to be satisfied with the bronze medal. In the 74 kg men's wrestling category, Vinay Kumar from Haryana defeated Rajeev Kumar from the CRPF, while the bronze medal was bagged by Rakesh from Punjab. Naveen Mor from Haryana snatched gold from Vijay Pal of the CRPF in the 120 kg freestyle category and Pardeep Kumar from CRPF managed to finish third. Gurmail Singh from the BSF received gold medal by beating Jai Bhagwan of the CRPF. In the same category, Vivek Rana from Uttar Pradesh secured third position by beating Hardeep Kumar from Punjab.
In the women's events, Promila of Haryana defeated Ranjni Bhalla of Punjab in the 59 kg category, while Chanrani Kala from the CRPF secured third position by beating Vijay Shivaji from Maharashtra. On the other hand, Suman Kund from Haryana defeated Kulwant Kaur in the 72 kg category, while Rajni Vist from Uttarakhand came third by beating Rina Mallick of the CRPF.
In men's weightlifting, Amandeep Singh from Punjab defeated Dinesh Joshi of Uttarakhand by lifting weight amounting to 264 kg, while K K Kumari of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) defeated W Nandini Devi from the CRPF by lifting 189 kg.
In the judo section, Hardeep from Haryana defeated Harpreet of the CRPF in the men's 66 kg category, while Navdeep Chana from the Indo-Tibetian Border Police (ITBP) defeated Satpal of BSF to receive gold in the 73 kg category. Jagbir from the CISF defeated Sahil Pathania of Punjab in the 100 kg category.
In women's judo events, Anita Chanu of the CRPF defeated Kalpana of the ITBP, and Shibvani of the Sasatra Seema Bal (SSB) defeated Gomti Chanu of the CRPF to win the top spot. Jeena Devi of the SSB stunned with her performance, defeating Taruna Sharma of the CRPF to win the gold medal.
