JK security situation satisfactory: Police

Srinagar, Feb 28 (IBNS) The security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has come to a "satisfactory" level and there are no attempts on part of militants to cross LoC (Line of Control), because of the strict vigil of the troops deployed there, said police on Monday.


"The security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has come to a satisfactory level. The number of militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir has decreased, our troops are guarding the boarder 24/7 and we are doing ski patrolling as well to check infiltration," General Officer Commanding (GOC), Dagger Division, Lieutenant General V.S Dadwal told reporters at Gulmarg here.
He said that infiltration has come down in recent times.
"Infiltration attempts and number of militants entering J&K has come down," Dadwal said.
He said that several measures including three tier fencing and ski patrolling have been put in place to check cross-border infiltration.
Referring to ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops, he said recently three such violations have been reported along the Indo-Pak border.

"The BSF (Border Security has done a commendable job by thwarting attempts of militants to infiltrate to this side from Pakistan," he said.
