Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said hundred companies of paramilitary forces will be sent to ensure law and order duties for the forthcoming assembly elections in West Bengal.
Addressing the media here after releasing his ministry's monthly report, Chidambaram said: "100 coys of CPMFs (30 Coys each of Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 20 Coys of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and 10 Coys each of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) will be deployed in West Bengal."
The Election Commission today announced the dates for elections in the five States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry.
The voting will take place for 294 assembly constituencies in West Bengal. West Bengal votes on six days, starting April 18. (ANI)
