Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader and injured two others at Shingnagar border of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Latif, 44, son of Abul Kashem of Namo Jagannathpur village in the upazila.
Lt Col Zayeed Hossain, commanding officer of 39 Rifles Battalion, said BSF troops of Padmar Char camp, West Bengal opened fire on a group of cattle traders when they were entering India through the no man's land of the border at about 8:30pm.
Latif died on the spot while two of his associates sustained bullet injuries, he added.
One of the injured Sentu, 32, was admitted to a local clinic.
Bangladesh Rifles strongly protested the killing and sent a protest letter to the BSF.
