JAIPUR: The TV sets at the security posts near theIndo-Pak border in Rajasthan will be tuned into sports channels on Wednesday as the BSF jawans are desperately waiting for the match between the two countries to be held at Mohali.
The TV sets, which were recently put up at almost all border posts following demand for the same by adamant jawans, have become a prized possession for them.
"We are desperately waiting for the match to begin. We are sure that Men in Blue will emerge winners just like us whenever there had been times of crisis and tension between the two countries," saidSukumar Nayak, a havildar deputed at Veer Dil border outpost in Jaisalmer district.
Since the World Cup began almost a month back, the jawans were not very much enthusiastic about the matches due to tough working hours and weather conditions. However, the one betweenIndia and Pakistan is surely hard to miss for them.
"During our duty at the outposts, we think of our nation's security round-the-clock. The psychology is the same when we look for our country's victory in the match," said another jawan, P Banerjee.
Dev Haldar, a constable deputed at Babliayana border outpost, said that whenever they get time, they will try to watch the match.
An arrangement for getting the latest scores has already been made. "The jawans who will be on rest will watch the match and relay the latest scores to others who will be on duty," said the officer.
"The only thing we are gossiping about is the Indo-Pak semifinal. All are praying for one more century for Sachin," said the officer.
The jawans, meanwhile, claimed that TV sets are not available with Pak counterparts. "Border posts on the other side are usually deprived of electricity. Only some of the outposts have electricity generated from solar power. They don't have TV sets as well," said a jawan.
