New Delhi is optimistic about Dhaka taking apt action against the Indian militant outfits and their camps operating on the soil of Bangladesh.
Director General of BSF, Raman Srivastava, said: 'We have handed over a list of camps of northeast insurgent groups along with their graphic details, GPS locations and aerial photographs to the Director General of Bangladesh Rifles Rafikul Islam and urged him to take proper action to dismantle those.
"We have given names of various people (militants) and I don't want to tell how many. But we are concerned about whereabouts of certain people (militants). They (Bangladesh authorities) have promised their best to try to locate them and they have said, 'if we find these camps, we will certainly dismantle them'. Going by the past record, they have been very co-operative - Bangladesh has been very co-operative - they have handed over so many people (militants) to us. So, I am inclined to believe them," he added.
'We hope they (BDR) will take proper action as they have assured us,' said Srivastava, who returned Monday after a six-day visit to Bangladesh.
He also mentioned that the discussion with his counterpart at Dhaka also included the human trafficking, smuggling across the border.
He further said during his interactions with the Bangladesh Rifles, he expressed concerns over illegal human trafficking, smuggling of fake Indian currency, cattle, narcotics and illegal infiltration along the porous border.
Srivastava said the BSF had seized a large amount of Indian fake currencies and Bangladesh had been used as the route for the smuggling of the fake currencies.
"Most of the fake Indian currency entered India through the immigration check post and not through the porous border. Two thirds of the fencing along the Bangladesh-Indian border has been completed and the rest of the work is in progress," he added.
The BSF and BDR also discussed ways to strengthen joint efforts to curb cross-border crimes, including drug smuggling, the killing of civilians and maintaining peace on the frontiers. (ANI)
