Shillong (GT): The mounting pressure from the Shiekh Hasina government from Bangladesh might lead the underground activists of North East specially ULFA to sneak in through Mehalaya Indo-Bangla border security reports suggested so the BSF has intensified vigil along the Indo-Bangla
"There are inputs that ULFA militants are likely to cross the border. They are making such attempts. The BSF has intensified operations to apprehend the insurgents," Inspector General (Assam and Meghalaya Frontier) R C Saxena informed mediapersons in Shillong.He added that Bangladeshi security forces were mounting pressure on Indian insurgents.
In Dhaka last week the Indian contingent at the five DG level summit had submitted a list of Indian insurgent operating in their land, said sought cooperation to apprehend them. At least 21 ULFA leaders along with nine of their family members have deserted the outfit during the past few days and were reportedly in the safe custody of Assam Police.All the battalions of BSF in the Garo hills belt of Meghalaya and those in Assam have been alerted and use of surveillance equipment has been intensified.
