Supporting the case of the prosecution, three prosecution witnesses recorded their statements before a lower Court of Chandigarh today in connection with the drug pilferage case against disgraced former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director and IPS officer Saji Mohan.
The three who recorded their statements are Jammu and Kashmir Police sepoy Kaushal Kumar, Vijay Kumar of the BSF and Manjit Singh, who was the NCB zonal director's PSO. Kaushal and Vijay were part of the party which had seized 60 kg of unclaimed heroine near the border.
Sources said that Vijay Kumar and Kaushal Kumar said in their statements before the court that the unclaimed heroine was recovered near the border in Jammu and Kashmir on May 15, 2000, and handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau.The court also recorded the statement of Manjit Singh who, according to sources, informed the Court that from May 14 to 16, 2000, Saji Mohan was in Jammu and Kashmir.
Saji Mohan was booked by the Chandigarh Police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on March 14, 2009, accusing him of pilferage of narcotics from NCB Malkhana. The case has been posted for resumed hearing on Thursday.
